What is this e-learning initiative of VTU?  
The e-Learning initiative of VTU was started in August 2003 with the main aim of facilitating e-Education and training to the students and faculty in technical subjects/courses through web based learning.

Does this programme replace teachers? 
No. It only supplements the conventional system of training and education and brings uniformity in technical education.

What are the learning resources made available for students?
Recorded video lectures, laboratory video and web resources. E-contents for 23 subjects/courses have been developed and can be accessed in the VTU-NMEICT portal http://nptel.vtu.ac.in

How do I learn?
You can learn it by accessing our website http://elearning.vtu.ac.in and browsing your way though the contents you are interested in.

Do I need to register to use this facility?
No.

Can I download the available e-Contents?
Yes, the users can download the available e-Contents. To download the e-Contents, browse the topic/lectures of your interest and right click on the video player and select "SAVE VIDEO AS". Every video can be downloaded in MP4 format, which is compatible to view in hand held devices.

Though, I am interested in a specific subject/course/topic I am not able to find it in the website.

This is only the beginning. In due course of time more and more learning resources will be added to meet learners' needs and aspirations.

I have come across additional learning resources. How do I share this information with others?
There are two ways in which you can do it.
    • Send a request to the particular subject matter expert who has prepared the content to have a look at the new resource.
